The Course offered by Bartimaeus lasts for approximately 1 year, depending on the individual student’s ability. During that time each person receives training in four basic areas.

	This is Bhaghia working at her computer. She has been with us for nearly twelve months and is now learning how to access the internet and surf the web. She will be taught to use Skype, to send e-mails, a scanner and printer, besides the basics of Microsoft Windows, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
	Shashikala joined us in early January 2010. You can see her here reading Braille, we are testing her to see how proficient she is and where she will slot in to our RNIB Fingerprint Braille Teaching Scheme. Our students have a full timetable for reading and writing Braille, mobility and computer training and receive a Certificate at the end of the Course.
	Here you can see Thomas Anthony, our Project Manager, taking two of our students Jayasheela and Sadananda for a mobility lesson. They need to know the difference between the mud road and the grass, the shoreline. For those born blind learning to use a cane does not prove too difficult but for those who have been sighted and have become blind after some time, it is harder to come to grips with this technique.
